GASI Mill Tour will Cool You Off

Doesn't this look inviting? After the hot, humid days that has hit most of the United States recently, this looks so refreshing.

We have a very good chance that we will be in the mountains at the peak of their fall colors. The entire mountain side shimmers with gold and orange.

For those who are registered for the tour, look for an information packet of more tour details including city maps. You can decide what sites, shops and restaurants you want to stop at during your free hours.

Not registered? There are a few days left for you to still register. Click HERE for the brochure and registration form.

35 People Touring Central Europe

That's right - 35 people have registered for the GASI Mill Tour for this October. These folks are from all across the United States; some who are veterans at the mill tour and for a few this is their first tour. Everyone of them is ready for an adventure.

We will be in the Julian Alps in the Bohinj Lakes region in Slovenia. It was overcast the day that I was there but the views are still spectacular. The small, quaint villages with their homes nestled close to each other is an entirely different way of life. We have the opportunity to see it close up.

There are still a few seats left on the bus but time is short to register. Click HERE to look over the registration brochure and reservation form.

Bringing Walking Shoes and A Big Appetite

One of the things you notice about Europe is that walking is the norm. The cities have lots of pedestrian malls. You see walking paths in and out of the cities and villages. While this tour does involve a little more use of our two feet for transportation mode, it is designed to be accessible for most people. One day we may hike through a spruce forest in the Julian Alps. That terrain is uneven and without a path or trail but you are certainly welcome to stay on the bus for that 20-30 minute segment of the tour. Bring you good walking shoes that you have broken in.

As you are strolling through the cities and village, another thing that you will see are all the coffee shops, outdoor cafes, pubs, restaurants, and food vendors. I was so impressed with the choices. I don't believe the non-fat, deep-fried, artifical sweetners and flavorings foods have penetrated the European's diet much. Fresh, whole foods full of flavor (and, yes, the fat) are served. Snacks are fruits, bread and light desserts. The portions are smaller because the food is more flavorful. Plus with all the walking, you will walk those extra calories right off!

If you have not sent in your deposit yet, you still have time. I have noticed that the air fares have gone up $200 - $400 the past month; most likely because of the rising oil price.

For those of you who did send in your deposit, information about your balance will be coming out in May. Click HERE for the brochure and registration form.

bon appetite!

Registration Details Now Available

The details of the upcoming GÄSI mill tour to Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Italy can be seen by clicking on the link to the left. The brochure also includes information about a three-day extention to the Bavarian villages around Munich.

One question that has asked several times is what to do about travelers insurance. It will certainly give you peace of mind when booking a trip this far in advance. The insurance needs to be purchased before you make your final payment on the trip. Some airlines will offer travel insurance for your ticket. There is also trip interruption insurance or medical coverage that you can buy. I have used Travel Guard, http://www.travelguard.com/, that is one of the top three used companies. You may also want to go to this web site to learn more about the insurance options:

http://www.travelinsurancereview.net/

To date, there are 20 people who have registered. That is almost half the seats that we have available. Send in the registration form with your deposit to secure your seats. The registration form can be downloaded by clicking the link to the left.

If you prefer to have a printed copy mailed to you, just email psiewert@nlassn.org or call me (800)469-9078.

Tentative Dates Set for Mill Tour

I have had several people asking me for the dates of the mill tour. Tentatively, the dates are Wednesday, October 5 thru Monday, October 17. Plus we are investigating a three day extension to visit some sights in Bavarian Germany for those of you who wish to stay beyond the business tour.

Our tour operator, Bostjan Gerdej, is still working with the hotels on availability and pricing. He knows you are all eager to know what the cost will be, so he is working diligently to pull all the information together as quickly as he can.

Feel free to post your comments about the upcoming tour for all to see or you can email me directly at psiewert@nlassn.org.
