One of the things you notice about Europe is that walking is the norm. The cities have lots of pedestrian malls. You see walking paths in and out of the cities and villages. While this tour does involve a little more use of our two feet for transportation mode, it is designed to be accessible for most people. One day we may hike through a spruce forest in the Julian Alps. That terrain is uneven and without a path or trail but you are certainly welcome to stay on the bus for that 20-30 minute segment of the tour. Bring you good walking shoes that you have broken in.
As you are strolling through the cities and village, another thing that you will see are all the coffee shops, outdoor cafes, pubs, restaurants, and food vendors. I was so impressed with the choices. I don't believe the non-fat, deep-fried, artifical sweetners and flavorings foods have penetrated the European's diet much. Fresh, whole foods full of flavor (and, yes, the fat) are served. Snacks are fruits, bread and light desserts. The portions are smaller because the food is more flavorful. Plus with all the walking, you will walk those extra calories right off!
If you have not sent in your deposit yet, you still have time. I have noticed that the air fares have gone up $200 - $400 the past month; most likely because of the rising oil price.
For those of you who did send in your deposit, information about your balance will be coming out in May. Click HERE for the brochure and registration form.
bon appetite!
